Quality from the start

Lorenz Heckelmann founded the company in 1924. In the early years, helo® focused on the production of wooden shoes in the company's home workshop. Gradually, additional employees joined the company to meet growing demand. Step by step, the founder's sons and grandchildren, in subsequent generations, expanded the family business into a leading manufacturer of wooden and plastic household goods, which is now managed by Hartwig Heckelmann and his son Philipp. High-quality production has always been the top priority. helo® offers its partners absolute quality products with long durability and high functionality. Environmental considerations are playing an increasingly important role, as helo® uses almost exclusively wood from sustainable forestry (FSC and other forest certifications) and recycled plastics.

Strategy and planning

Clothespins and promotional items complement the range
From 1945 onwards, wooden clothespins in a wide variety of designs were added to the product range. In 1954, helo® also began producing plastic clothespins. Wooden items such as bread and butter sticks and cutting boards became established in the helo® product range in the 1960s. In the 1970s, the company began producing wooden spoons. In 1980, helo® opened a new division with a wide range of wooden promotional items. This segment has experienced above-average growth ever since due to high demand. These items are customized with branding, printing, or laser engraving. Custom designs are also available.

Leading provider
Today, helo® is one of the world's largest suppliers of clothespins. Helo® is also a market leader in the kitchen utensils and wooden plates segment. Helo® has also established a reputation as a producer of high-quality individual items such as wooden boxes and stove covers. The product range is rounded out by leisure items and, above all, a wide selection of wooden promotional items.

Numerous national and international intellectual property rights for a wide variety of products, e.g. for plates, clamps, technical wooden parts, business card boxes, demonstrate the innovative spirit of the company.

Production with sensitivity and state-of-the-art technology
As the segment became increasingly diverse, so did the need for larger production facilities. The first expansion phase began in 1948 with the construction of a new hall. Since then, the company premises have been continuously expanded to accommodate the new technology. Because helo® has always maintained a focus on state-of-the-art technology as the foundation for its high-quality products. Today, CNC machines for the highest precision dominate the production facilities. In addition, high-quality handcrafting continues to play a very important role in exclusive products. In addition to the administrative complex, two production halls, several warehouses, and a high-bay warehouse form the core of the company.

Wood out of conviction
Wood, a natural material, forms the basis of most helo® products. Helo® places great importance on using predominantly wood from sustainable forestry to meet current customer demands.

Successful sales at home and abroadhelo® distributes its attractive products through retail partners at home and abroad. Exports now account for over a third of sales, generated primarily through helo®'s extensive trade fair participation. For over 30 years, helo® has been an exhibitor at national trade fairs, including the "Trend-Messe" in Cologne, Wiesbaden, and Frankfurt; "PSI" in Düsseldorf; "Haptica" in Bonn; "Ambiente" in Frankfurt; as well as international trade fairs in Dubai, Tokyo, and many more.
